terms of service

by using candid, you agree to these terms. if you don't agree, please don't use the service. these terms form a binding agreement between you and candid (“we”, “us”, “our”).

candid is an AI-powered conversation preparation tool. it helps you think through difficult conversations, draft messages, identify patterns in recurring conflicts, and walk into hard situations with more clarity.

candid is a thinking and preparation tool — not a licensed therapy service, legal advisor, or mental health resource. responses generated by candid are AI-produced and should not be treated as professional advice. always exercise your own judgment.

you agree not to:

• use candid to harass, threaten, or harm any person
• generate content that is illegal, defamatory, or violates others' privacy
• attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the service
• share accounts between multiple people — accounts are for individual use
• use automated tools or bots to access the service
• resell or sublicense access to candid without written permission
• attempt to circumvent usage limits, paywalls, or security measures

we reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without prior notice, depending on severity.

you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. any activity that occurs under your account is your responsibility. notify us immediately at support@candid.app if you believe your account has been compromised.

candid offers a free tier with usage limits and paid subscription plans. paid plans are billed through DodoPayments.

• free plan: limited to a set number of conversation sessions per month. limits are shown in the product and subject to change with notice.
• paid plans: billed monthly or annually at the rate shown at checkout. prices are in USD unless otherwise stated.
• auto-renewal: paid subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing cycle. you will be charged the then-current price unless you cancel before the renewal date.
• price changes: we will provide at least 14 days' notice before changing subscription prices. continued use after a price change constitutes acceptance.

you may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access to paid features until then. we do not provide prorated refunds for partial billing periods.

if you believe you were charged in error, contact us within 14 days at support@candid.app and we will review your case.

the content you input into candid remains yours. you grant us a limited license to process your content to deliver the service. we do not claim ownership over your inputs or outputs.

the candid product, brand, design, and codebase are owned by us. you may not reproduce or use them without permission.

candid's responses are generated by AI and are provided for informational and preparation purposes only. we make no guarantees about the accuracy, completeness, or fitness of AI-generated content for any specific purpose. you assume full responsibility for how you use the output.

to the maximum extent permitted by law, candid and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to: the outcome of conversations you prepare for using candid, reliance on AI-generated advice, or service interruptions.

our total liability to you for any claim arising from use of candid is limited to the amount you paid us in the 3 months preceding the claim.

candid is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. we do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components.

these terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which you reside, to the extent applicable. where local law requires specific consumer protections beyond what these terms provide, those protections apply. any disputes shall first be attempted through good-faith negotiation before pursuing formal legal action.

we may update these terms as the product evolves. if changes are material, we will notify you at least 14 days in advance via email or in-product notice. continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
